I Made This Pretty Door Decor From Last Year's Autumn Decor Stash

Yes, I changed the color of my stash of fake pumpkins and also a pumpkin sign I've had for a few years now, bought from Joann's or Michael's. I was SO not looking forward to Fall and the decorations I've had for several years. I took out the bin of Fall stuff and it all felt so flat.

But once I started painting last year's Fall decorations, I really fell in love with the "new" old Autumn decor. Last year I painted my front door this very awesome salmon color, the shutters, too.

Here was the original sign. I could appreciate the "give thanks" part of it but I really didn't like the color and it was coming out every Fall for 3 or 4 years so I was done with it.

Last summer I put together this little wire wreath. It was considerable work putting each floral piece on with wire so the stuff wouldn't all fall off of it in bits and pieces. Yes, that has happened with other projects of mine.

I liked the wreath when it was done but not overly so. Well, I cut the wreath wire so that all I had to do was turn it upside down and attach it to the newly painted pumpkin sign. I also added a few silk flowers to beef it up a little! This came out way better than I had hoped. That's always a win-win when that happens.

Here is the front of the house with the cow mailbox.

My handicapped grandson lives with us and he's in a wheelchair so that's why the ramp in the front.

A close up of the mailbox. I bought it originally but repainted it during the pandemic last year when we couldn't go anywhere.

Encouraged by the success of that I looked at some of the other not so great Fall decor like these...

Enter some differing shades of pink and some time later......

I love the color pink SO I painted all the pumpkins in different shades of pink. Then I was on a roll and I looked at this old Fall sign I had and said to myself, "Why not?".

Here's the blah sign.

and here's the renewed Autumn sign...

I added some pink berries and painted all the pumpkins in pink shades but I didn't touch the lettering. I did think about it but in the end I thought what if I botch it up? Then I REALLY wouldn't like it.

Here is everything altogether on the dining table. I have my Mom's glass table and wicker chairs for my dining table now and especially during the pandemic because nobody has been coming over, aka no parties. Wa!

I made a fluffy fake fur pumpkin a few years ago. It had a funky stem so I painted it pink, too.

Now I am SO excited about my new Fall decor. I never liked the dark orange and rust colors of Autumn. It means the leaves are changing and while they are beautiful it means the days will be shorter and the dark days of winter are coming. Sounds like Game of Thrones... "winter is coming"... lol

I hope you've enjoyed this post. So if you have some decor items that you are not happy about displaying again this year...

PAINT THEM!!

Be happy. Much love,

  2. Ooh, I love all of the fun color here, Linda! When I was growing up, my dad painted our shutters with a similar bright salmon color. My mom didn't think she would like it, but she loved it!
