Romantic Mason Jars for Someone You Love for Valentine's Day

Romantic Mason Jars to Give to Someone You Love!

Dressing up Mason jars has been a project of mine for the last few months. My grandson goes to a special needs school and my daughter hosts a Christmas dinner for the teachers and workers every year. Last year we made poppers filled with candy for each of the workers. This year I was decorating these cute jars and thought, 'hmmm.. these would be cute gifts for the workers for Christmas'. So that started the jar collecting...

Love you to the moon and back...

We collected Mason jars at tag sales and friends and family gave us pickle jars. Some of the cutest jars were originally pickle jars!! We needed 143 decorated jars. These were Mason jars...

I bought this really cute ribbon that says, "Love you to the Moon and back" and wrapped some of the jar rims with it. Isn't this perfect to give for Valentine's Day?  A gift like this could be given to a special niece or granddaughter.

These jars I wrapped with 3 inch lace and secured with either Fabri-Tac or hot glue. On top of the lace I glued a piece of ribbon and on top of that some pretty flower petals from Joann's and secured them on also. I made some little ribbon or fabric roses and glued them on - just the perfect finishing touch, I think.

The little roses are very easy to make. I used hot glue to hold them together as I twisted the ribbon around and around.

With this jar I wrapped jute string around the lip of the jar and then glued a piece of jewelry to it.

I had more fun making these than anything I've made in a long time. I tried to make each one unique and a little different from all the others.

When I cover a jar with lace, I cut it long enough so that I can fold it down underneath the bottom of the jar. Then it's secured with either hot glue or Fabri-Tac.

After gluing the lace all around the jar, I usually glue on some kind of applique like the one below.

This jar is first covered with a strip of fabric about 3 inches wide. Then a doily is glued on top of that and topped with 3 handmade fabric roses. I cut up some silk leaves that I have taken from some wreaths or sometimes I just cut up some green paper to look like little leaves.

Here is a picture of how I folded the fabric in the back of the jar and sealed with hot glue.

Sometimes I put 3 fabric rosebuds together. The little leaves were made from scrapbook paper.

Here is how I decorated the jar rims. This is string wrapped around the rim of the jar.

Here are some "turtles" as my mother called them.

Here's a bit of white lace with  little gold and white string wrapped around the rim. You can make the jars as fancy or as simple as you like.

I have a bunch of old jewelry which I've collected mostly from tag sales and I incorporated some of it into the jars. Here's a pretty burlap flower. Michael's and Joann's sell them.

i bought the small electronic lights to go inside of the jar so they turned into little romantic beacons.

Hope you enjoyed my jars. It was awesome making them also.

Best wishes, Linda
