My Mom's Sugar Plum Fairy Mantel and a GIVEAWAY

Sugar Plum Fairy Mantel

Or that's what I'm calling these little glittery, fluffy clothespin dolls I made for my Mom's mantel.

Here are a couple of the little fairies I made for my Mom's white and glittery winter mantel.

I didn't think a face was necessary and it becomes more "artsy" that way. Also, these are not clothespins. They are "doll pins" .... at the craft store. I cut off the bottom of the clothespins also because I didn't want them to be too long and ruin the effect. I DO have a picture of these DOLL pins being cut somewhere. Darn. I've had this computer formatted twice in the last month and my pictures are all over the place so that's not gonna happen.  Anyway, you get the idea. I just basically wanted a "head" with enough body for the fabric to grab onto.

I bought some glittery, fancy fabric at Joann Fabrics and Crafts and cut a piece from each about 4 inches by 8 inches. I then ran a stitch across the top and pulled a thread so that it gathered the little piece of fabric into a ruffled skirt. I used a hot glue gun to glue the little skirt onto the clothespin ..er dollpin... I glued on a little trim onto the head and some gems on some to make a crown.

I had the bright idea to make little banners that say "sugar plum fairy forest" since there are lots of glittery trees on my Mom's mantel.

I cut little pieces of ribbon and folded them over and stuck on some letter stickers that I bought at Michael's Craft Store. Only problem was that the silver ribbon I used didn't want to stay closed. I used glue and then tape but they kept popping open. You'll see what I mean below..

My Mom's mantel is LONG! It needs a lot of "stuff" to fill it up.

See what I  mean? It's a very long mantel.. so it's really fun to decorate.

Now for the GIVEAWAY. YAY!
