I’m On a Pumpkin Kick, Can You Tell?

gourds
I bought some gourds and pumpkins to mix in with the fabric pumpkins that I’m making this month so I thought I’d take some pics of just the pumpkins themselves. They are photo worthy, too.
Then I threw in some sunflowers my sister had in a vase.
Fabric Pumpkin
Here’s the fabric pumpkin. Michele, the girl that I met in Joann’s last week that took an interest in my blog and helped me pick out fabrics, well, she convinced me that this fabric would be darling and she was right. It’s one of my most favorite fabric pumpkins so far. Thanks, Michele.

Isn’t that tiny orange pumpkin cute?
To make these fabric pumpkins, I cut a circle out of fabric and make a large stitch along the edge of the circle. When you get to the end,
PULL
until you have a small circle hole in the middle.
Then I just stuff it and close it up with a few stitches. That’s it. Oh, I throw in a stick and a few artificial leaves to round it out and make it look more like a pumpkin.
It’s like making a very large fabric yoyo, but then stuffing it instead of laying it flat.
Learn to make a fabric yoyo HERE.
Same exact premise, only bigger and you stuff it.
 Super EASY!!
Which is why I want to keep making them. I get like that sometimes. I just want to keep making the same thing…until I get sick of it, that is. It doesn’t happen for a while and usually it’s because I start making something ELSE. :)
Happy Pumpkining, everyone.

    1. Barbara, you can do it!!! I know you can. If you can thread a needle you can do it. In fact, I think you can just take and squinch the fabric up at the top and tie it somehow and then throw the stick in it. No prob. And you probably have some old fabric lying around. No need to buy any. Well, you probably don't have THIS particular fabric, but that's okay. It's so easy it's amazing. Thanks for commenting. Linda

    1. We made some while I was at my sister's in Pennsylvania last weekend and so I have even more to share as the month goes on. I got onto a pumpkin kick, I guess. I'm enjoying it though so that's what counts. Thanks for hooking up!!! Linda

  4. That fabric pumpkin is adorable! I actually own a pumpkin farm and many crafters ask me for real pumpkin stems to insert in their fabric pumpkins. They dry out nicely, so save your stems! (The Phat Jack pumpkins have the best stems....I did a post about them today.) Great project!

    1. Hi, Danni, i think I fixed the comment problem. You won't believe this but Diana at "Anyone can Decorate" just did a post on how to fix the "no reply" problem you were talking about. Well, I followed her directions and hope they work. We'll see. :) Linda

    1. This was the best fabric, although I do have some other fabric I bought for pumpkins. Yea, like I needed to buy any more fabric!! NOT! I've got scads of it in bins upstairs. My sister and I were into quilting and so we kept buying fabric for our stash. Take care, Linda
