A More Fun Way to Give a Gift of Money

Judi, my niece, gave my Mom a gift of money for her birthday.  She wrapped the money like a New Year's Party popper. She could have put the money in a card but this is so much more  fun. The money is all rolled up inside this prettily wrapped present and the recipient pulls out the bills slowly to reveal the entire amount. In this case, it was $103… 5 – 20’s and 3 – 1’s. One dollar for every birthday year. Yea, our Mom is 103 years old!!

Cool, huh? I immediately had to see how it was done so that I could do it, too. Why am I like that? If something can be made, I WANT to make it. I'd RATHER make it. There isn't enough time to make everything I want to make, though. Well, this is something EASY AND QUICK. Easy and quick is good.

Here it is:

Here’s what I did. I took the whole thing apart and then put it back together, taking  pictures throughout the whole process.

Here is the toilet paper roll. You make a cut all the way across the roll.

It looks like there is a piece of tape on the ends to hold the tube together.

Now cut a piece of wrapping paper about 8 x 12 inches.

Fold the long edges under as shown below.

Then cover the toilet paper roll with the wrapping paper. Tape in place as shown.

Cover tube completely and tape to hold the wrapping paper in place.

Tape money together in a line.

IMG_1001 (800x600)

I just taped them together with ordinary tape.

IMG_1002 (800x600)

Roll up the money.

IMG_1003 (800x600)

Roll it all the way up.

IMG_1004 (800x600)

Pop the roll into the tube.

IMG_1005 (800x600)

Leave a little of the money showing so that they can get their fingers on it to pull the money out.

IMG_1006 (800x600)

Put curly ribbon around the ends of the paper like shown.

IMG_1007 (800x600)

All done! Now it’s a fun gift to give and not just money in a card!

Hope everyone liked this. I’m sure thrilled with it.
