Easy Bird Mobile

010aacc
While visiting my sister, we made bird mobiles. Well, my first idea was to have birds hanging on a string but my sister had some kind of a Christmas wired garland left hanging around so we used that. And it’s great because it spirals downward and looks natural.

I wanted to cut the birds out of all different kinds of paper including sandpaper. Well, we were in a hurry because we were leaving for home in a few hours so we had to use what we had on hand. We had some cute scrapbooking cardstock so we used that and then I dug around and found some sandpaper. I really wanted to use sandpaper. Here is the sandpaper bird.

Anyway, Michele used a bird book as reference to draw some bird shapes and we all cut out various shapes and sizes of birds. We glued them onto the wire with hot glue. The wire even has some red berries on it.

It’s so cheery to look at in the window.

  1. I don't know what it is about cut outs, but I absolutely love them! And using sandpaper, how creative! I'd never thought to do that, but I'll have to try that next time.

  3. Kudos Linda and Carol; very special birds and the inspiration to hang them from a garland made these home-crafted little birds quite unique -- expensive looking, so thanks. Your banner made me laugh! Terri www.morningdewdrops.typepad.com

  10. Linda,

Thank you for visiting my blog and commenting on my Easter Egg. I didn't think it looked nearly as nice as the ones you and your friends made. I just couldn't get the egg shaped just right. I love your blog and your header is
the cutest thing I've ever seen. I'll be visiting often and using your ideas and patterns, I'm sure!

Also, I'd love to have the pattern for the apron. I can do the straps on my own. Also, would you be willing to share your pattern for the egg. I love the shape of yours.
