Pretty New Journals Made FAST

I’ve been making these journals for years and thought I would do a quick tutorial on how to make them…. SO SO EASY. It’s basically – put papers together, fold in half, stitch. FINISHED. I love easy and quick projects that yield wonderful results, don’t you?

And it gave me a chance to go paper shopping. Wheee… So I bought some really pretty scrapbooking cardstock. I knew they would make wonderful, colorful covers for the little journals.
Here is a tutorial on how I make them.

First I bought some fancy papers and plain ones, too, for the inside of the journals size 81/2 by 11 inches… 20 and 24 lb. paper.

Then I bought some packets of beautiful scrapbook cardstock paper for the covers. The designer of this pack is Susan Winget. Love her stuff.

Here are some of the very beautiful cardstock papers in this packet.
I take 5 or 6  pieces of the assorted papers in various colors and put them together. Since I bought the pack of 12 x 12 inch cardstock I had to cut them down to 81/2 inches by 11 inches.  Then I put that on the top and fold all the papers in half like this:

I like to put a pretty paper in the center so when you open the journal you see the prettiest of the papers.
Then I simply stitch them down on my sewing machine using a large stitch. A small stitch can cut the paper so make sure you use the largest stitch on your machine. This stitch holds all the papers together and is basically the binding for the journal.

That’s all there is to it. Below are some of the journals I made with the beautiful papers. Some of them even are glittered. They came that way. Can you believe it?

These haven’t been sewn yet but they are all ready to go! Aren’t they pretty?
Best wishes, everyone. Linda

  10. For all the 'paper strrokers ' out there this is an ideal way of using them but not actually giving them away. I am off to sort out some papers now.

  12. Your banner is lovely.

The floral patterns are so beautiful. I can almost smell them! It's a pity that I don't have a sewing machine to make the stitching or else I could make one for myself.

  16. Those journals are beautiful and they seem pretty easy (especially for me - pretty much a non-sewer except out of necessity!!)

Thank for commenting again on my blog. Yes - I will look into Linky Tools. Can't believe that that the Google Follow will be going away. I am beginning to not like them at all - first they are taking away Piknik, now this. Not right.

    Bye for now...
