Scrapbooking on a child’s snow hat

Two years ago I was cleaning out the front hall closet and found my granddaughter’s snow hat from when she was just a few years old. My daughter wanted to throw it out but I didn’t want to. I wanted to do something with it. So I had the idea to print out pictures of my granddaughter when she was wearing the hat. And THEN sewing it onto the hat, making the hat a little memory item to hold onto like a photo album.
This is how I did it. I printed out the pictures on this stuff:  This is from Amazon. There is also printer fabric you can print on that you can IRON ONTO the hat, no sewing involved.

I like sewing so I sewed on the little pictures. If you want to iron it on, it would probably be just as nice and really, really quick. The hardest part would be picking out the pictures.

Here I am sewing on the pictures onto the hat. If you have a really nice machine that does pretty stitches it would look even nicer. I’m happy with my old industrial machine, though. Carol has a Husqvarna that is fabulous and does fancy stitches. I do lots of stuff with my machine and my machine will go through leather(maybe I never tried) but lots of thick, thick layers of fabric with no problem at all. :)

040aaHere is my daughter with my granddaughter. (We adopted our daughter from  Korea. In fact my husband and I adopted 2 girls from Korea. They have been the joys of our life. ) The picture underneath that is my daughter trying to get her daughter dressed to go out in the snow. I was rolling with laughter. The boots would not go on! Wish I had a video. :)
This is such a simple project. Last year I put it on the top of one of my Christmas Trees. This year I put it on a cupboard in the dining room. I put it away with the Christmas things and when I take it out in November it’s special again. Hope you all enjoyed this craft. Linda
