Little Snow Houses

063aa061aaI’ve been working on little houses for a few weeks now. I made these little fabric house ornaments. I was so thrilled with making them that I just kept going – I think I made about 18. Then I wanted to continue with this theme with some cute little sayings that gives the house personhood. I took this idea from the Holiday Gifts Magazine from Quilting Arts a few years ago. I made the little pictures of houses in the snow and framed them so when I started making little houses I thought about the little house in the snow and what a cute theme that is. Anyway, I’ve now made about another 15 of these. The difference between the original fabric house ornaments and these new snow houses is a layer of Steam-a-Seam2 Lite with a layer of glittery see through fabric on top of that. This gives the little house a gauzy, glittery look like it’s snowing.
I still use Pellon Peltex double sided fusible as the stiffener for the house. I still sew on the lace and trim. Then after that I iron on a layer of Steam-aSeam2 (which is a very light double sided fusible) right over the complete house including the lace and trim. Then I remove the paper from the Steam-a-Seam and place some glittery see through fabric on  top of everything and iron that down also. I’m sure I could do more glitz and I might still do that.058aaThis is what the back looks like.
060aaI had so much fun making these. I’m thinking of making tiny ones for pins…but who wears pins anymore? Then I’m thinking of making transparent ones to hang in the windows.

Best wishes to everyone. Linda

  10. Very cute! I love when you find a new "go to" project! I always have that happen, and make a bunch of the same thing! That's one of the reasons I opened my etsy shop, so that I could sell some of the multiples LOL

  11. I am always making little things, and these are so cute. Cannot wait to try one. I made one reversible coffee cup cozy out of some Amy Butler fabric I lad left over form an Anna Maria Horner purse for a friend, and then I could.t stop. I am now up to 12....I cannot believe it. It sounds like you are doing the same thing. I This is my first visit to your blog, but I have now added you to the list of blogs I am going to read and follow. Your site is wonderful. Genie
