12 Life Hacks to Make Life Easier

What is a "Life Hack"? According to Wikipedia it is "anything that solves an everyday problem in an inspired, ingenious manner."

Okay, let's get to it. I've seen some awesome "life hacks" on the net and wanted to share them with you. I'm sure you have seen lots of them also. Well, I have a few original "hacks" blog posts that have been well received and thought I'd collate them here with some other hacks I think are amazing.

Hope they help you a little.

12 Life Hacks

Believe it or not there are lots of uses for wood ashes from the fireplace. I was amazed at some of the uses for ashes.

2. Tired of seeing those pens and pencils all over your desk?

Why not try this? One beautiful way to organize your life!

Beautiful desk organizing.

Here's a hint. Don't use water! Use sandpaper to basically "lift" off the dirty layer. It works like magic. Click through to see exactly how it's done!

Use sandpaper to clean the suede insole of sandals.

The new 2.0 Keurig coffee maker does not accept the old coffee pods and this annoyed my blogger buddy, Kim, of Kim Six Fix blog so she came up with a solution!! Now ANY pod will fit in the 2.0 using Kim's amazing life hack trick.

6.  How to make a cup holder for your car

Don't have any cup holders in your car or just need MORE of them, like me? There are never enough cup holders in my car, period, and especially in the summer.

A role of duct tape is all you need. Make sure the duct tape center is big enough for your cup. It will hold a drink steady on your seat.

Before opening the bag, apply clear tape all the way around the bag. The "rip" will stop at the tape. No more ending up with a little triangle of a bag and chips all over the floor/couch/car, etc.

Way to keep your snack bags from ripping open.

Put a few drops of essential oil inside the toilet paper roll and then put on toilet paper holder as usual. Every time it's used, there will be a fresh scent of whatever essential oil you choose. Check out this post to find out more DIY ways to make your home smell wonderful!

Put it inside a pot of flowers and don't be fumbling around in the dark in your backyard.

10. Want to save HEAPS of electricity and not have to change a bulb like forever (almost)?

Upgrade lights to LEDs is a tutorial on how to change regular recessed lighting to LED lighting without spending a fortune! She gives a complete (and I mean complete) tutorial on how to do this. I'm so doing this in my kitchen which has 9 recessed lights.

11. Don't have a pretty vase for those fresh flowers?

No problem! Use a regular water glass and a pretty gift bag! The best part is that you can change out the "vase" whenever you like for little money. Check out the other "alternative" vases also, HERE.

Wind it around in a circle and create a flower pot!! If it's a soaker hose it's even better!!
