Caramel Chocolate Turtles and a Fancy Gift Container
..
Pecans and chocolate = Turtles
How about Rolos? I really love Rolos, mostly because I'm a caramel lover.
I thought about putting these together.... yummy..
Chocolate Caramel Turtles
Ingredients:
Pecans - 5 whole pecans for each turtle candy and more for embellishing the tops of the candies
Chocolate candy melts - you need about a tablespoon of chocolate for each turtle
Rolos caramel candies - one for each turtle
Some chopped up pecans for embellishing
Gold color edible sprinkles
Directions:
I put a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet and placed 5 whole pecans in a shape like the picture above... the shape of a turtle. I melted chocolate candy melts in 30 second increments in the microwave, stirring in between. Then I placed about 1 tablespoon of melted chocolate in the middle of the pecans. Put in the freezer for 1 minute.
Next you need to soften the Rolos just a little so I took the wrappers off the Rolos and warmed them in a 200 degree oven for a few minutes until they are soft. Then place them gingerly on the top of the hardened chocolate turtles and press them down. The caramel is warm inside the Rolo and they mush right down onto the chocolate. My daughter says you need 2 Rolos on each turtle because it's not enough caramel. (She really likes caramels).
I chopped up some pecans and put them on top of the Rolos to make them kinda pretty. I had some gold edible sparkles and threw them on also. (Go big or go home).
HOW TO MAKE THE GOLD FABRIC BOX
I bought this really, really pretty and fancy gold fabric at Joann's Fabric and also bought the same amount of fusible liner for stiffening it a bit to be able to make the box. I used THIS tutorial = no sense in reinventing the wheel, is there? LOL
Then I put some crumbled up wax paper inside and some turtles to give as gifts and wrapped it all up with some gold ribbon. It's a nice presentation and I hope you are inspired to make some of these boxes yourself. Be sure to stiffen the fabric somehow.... possibly with Mod Podge? I used a fusible (iron on) stiffener from Joann's.
Hope you enjoy this..
Be sure to hop over and see my Snowman Cheese Ball which is very popular and a big hit at parties. Isn't he cute???
