Here is my version:
I cut out pieces of paper in the shape of a leaf - or almost a leaf. I just kept cutting and cutting - I needed lots of little leaf shapes. :)
It wasn't bad. It went quickly. I sometimes layered 2 or 3 pieces of paper together and cut out a lot more leaf shapes at once.
Don't worry about a pattern, for Heaven's sake. Just cut away.
Here are some of the leaf shapes... all slightly different.
Then, in order to glue the pieces of paper onto a canvas, you have to fold down the bottom part of the "leaf". This will be glued to the canvas.
Before gluing to the canvas you need to clip the corners of the "leaves" in the piece that will be glued to the canvas, so that it doesn't show as much in the final work.
On a square canvas board I drew a large spiral loosely over the canvas in pencil....
Then I started gluing the little pieces of paper here and there all over the canvas... I faced the little paper "leaves" all toward the center of the canvas.
My favorite glue is Fabri-Tac. I use it for everything. It's super good, super holding. I like hot glue also but whatever I use it on usually ends up coming apart.
And then just keep adding little pieces here and there - it's kind of fun to try to decide where to put the different colors.
Best wishes,

Wishing a wonderful summer..
