How to Make Soap Leaves for FUN!!

Cover leaves with glycerine soap and put in your guest bathroom (all right, any bathroom).

This is a fun thing to do. FUN factor definitely here.

It's pretty easy but you will need FRESH pretty leaves. The leaves dry up pretty fast so pick them when you are all ready.

Melt the glycerin. I added 2 tablespoons of water to 4 squares of glycerin soap.

I put 4 squares of glycerin soap and 2 tablespoons of water in a bowl and in the microwave for 30 second intervals until it was all melted.

This is the fun part.  Pick really nice colorful leaves without dark spots (this is harder than you might think). I ended up taking a branch off a tree as all the leaves on the ground were kinda dried up and colorless.

Dip leaves in the melted glycerin soap.  I held onto the stems when I dipped them in the liquid soap. In one of my batches I heated up the soap too much and when I dipped in the leaf, it curled up (I cooked it. ha ha).

Make sure that the leaves are completely covered with the glycerin soap in order to keep them from drying up.

I like the way the leaves are so pretty sitting on the sink.

Then I packaged them in a DVD envelope. I bought these DVD envelopes at Staples.  I've seen cookies packed inside these little DVD envelopes as well. SWEET! (Going to definitely try that ASAP). :)

It's a little gift. Maybe a small teacher gift! Kids can help with this, too, if the glycerin soap is not too hot. Have them hold onto the stems...

Don't the leaves look pretty in here?

I added a little tag that says 'Happy Fall - leaf soaps'. Oh, also, I wrapped twine around it, too.

I think they look pretty in the bathroom, don't you?

Best wishes, everyone.

Happy Fall.

  3. I know this might be a dumb question, but do you actually use them to wash your hands with or are they just for decoration?
