Or HOW TO COLOR HYDRANGEAS WITH SPRAY PAINT
Oh, you were thinking that you could put something down for your hydrangea plants to make them produce pink flowers?
These people can tell you that, Hydrangeas Hydrangeas. They show on their website how to change pink hydrangeas to blue hydrangeas.
They say it’s easier to turn the pink to blue than it is to turn the blue to pink. Well, check it out if you need information like that.
No, this post is about how to get flowers RIGHT NOW in the color you need. I needed light pink flowers for some flower arrangements for my Mom’s birthday party.
Our Mom turned 103 this year. YES, 103 years old! I’ll do a post about my Mom later this week and show all that we did for her party!!
Here is the 100th Party Post!!
I had this paint hanging around the basement and it was the exact right color to match the tablecloths at my Mom’s party.
I gave a very light dusting of spray paint to the paler color hydrangeas. Some of the hydrangeas were slightly bluish and some were white but I sprayed them so that some of the flowers looked tri-colored. I was thrilled with the results!! As you can see the leaves also got some pink spray.
Isn’t it a nice, soft color pink?
Here are the pretty pink blooms that Michele, niece, used in the flower arrangements for my Mom’s party.
Here are some of the arrangements Michele made:
Some of the flowers didn’t get sprayed at all.
Of course, you can use any color paint you want. I’ve even seen people paint flowers with a paint brush but that would take way too much time for my likes. I like quick crafts that look like they took a long time to do.
Miss Kitty over at Miss Kopy Kat left a comment saying she has sprayed live flowers also and that there is a special spray paint just for them. It's sold at Michael's Craft Store called Design Master Spray paint and she says it doesn't make the flowers stiff. So glad to know. Thought everyone would like to know about this so I included it in the original post. Thanks, Miss Kitty for the heads-up! Anyone would do well to visit her blog, too. She has some beach decorating ideas over there that are WAY COOL.
Have you ever done anything like this with live flowers?
Would you consider spray painting real flowers?
Best wishes, Linda
Hi Linda! Thanks for sharing this tip about spray painting flowers. I have had good success spray painting flowers with a paint specially made for flowers by Design Master. You can get a pretty good selection of colors at Michael's. I found out that there are even more colors online. The Design Master paint does not make the flowers stiff. I have not tried regular spray paint but believe me, if the need came up and I didn't have the official flower paint, I would sure try your method. Your neice did a GREAT job of arranging the pretty flowers for your mom's party. I saw your post at "Masterpiece Monday".
