I bought these 2 little tables to use as planters. I came into this certain tag sale and there were no prices on anything. So I asked how much the table was (I only wanted one). The girl said to me, “How much do you want to pay?” I said, “How about $4?” And she said, “For both?” I could hardly believe that they would take $2. for each table. I was a little shocked but after I recovered, I said, “yes, for both”. And she consulted her friend who said, “Okay”. Wow. Was I excited! They were certainly worth more than $2. each. They are new probably from the unfinished furniture store as they are unfinished. I will have to paint them and that is the downside. I have so much stuff to paint! But I’m pretty happy I bought them and want to use them as planters. Well, at least one of them. I’ll ask my daughter if she wants the other. :)
I always buy tools since I have guys around the house that don’t put stuff away and these things disappear.around here regularly. So I found these tools that were 50 cents each. I scooped them right up. The needlenose pliers were frozen but I was able to put olive oil (I know that’s not the right oil but it’s what was available to me and guess what? It worked.) They were rusted inside, I guess, because this rusty stuff kept coming out of them. They are wonderful now, though..all cleaned up.
This little purse I bought for $1. I want to put a plant in it and hang it either on the front door or just outside under the porch.
I bought a really nice bike for my granddaughter for $20.
A few old frames (to make even MORE frame wreaths). Here are some of the square wreaths I’ve made.
All through the weekend I was looking for unusual containers to put flowers and plants in. When I saw this little chair I knew I could do something with it.
Isn’t it cute? It’s kind of country looking and it is in EXCELLENT condition. I don’t have to paint it. That’s a big plus.
At the same tag sale, the women was an extensive gardener and had some “hens and chickens” for sale so I bought some of those, too, for the bargain price of $2.!!
Hmmm… I thought maybe I could put these two together so I started looking for a container to put on the seat of the little blue chair to put these “hens and chickens” in.
So I put the hens and chicks in the black “chicken pan” and tried to make it look nice but it just didn’t. It looked lopsided and ragged. I broke some of the little branches also which didn’t help at all.
Fortunately, I had a pot of hens and chicks which I bought at a local garden shop last week and I just plopped it on the seat of the blue chair and let it go at that. I’ll plant the other hens and chicks in the garden somewhere. I've never had hens and chicks so it's kind of fun to think about how they grow and there are little "babies" growing from the big ones, too. Fun.
What kinds of things have you gotten at tag sales and how have you used them in an unusual way? Or better yet, what is the best bargain you ever got at a tag sale?
Best wishes, to all and happy tag saling this weekend.
One of my favorite things to do is find things for cheap and "revamp" them - I LOVE garage sales and thrift stores. You found some awesome stuff!
