Memory Hat

How to Make a Memory Hat

Or how to put your pictures on a winter hat.

I wondered what to do with this old hat that my granddaughter had outgrown. It percolated around in my head for a few days. I had made a small memory quilt wallhanging for my granddaughter with a beautifully embroidered shirt she wore when she was 3 years old.

But I thought, I wanted to do something different this time and that maybe the hat itself could be a freestanding art quilt all on its own. I found pictures of her wearing the pink winter hat. Then I printed the pictures out on special fabric for the printer, cut them up, pinned them where I thought they looked nice, and sewed them on the hat. I used the sewing machine but they could be sewed by hand or even glued. The dogs were out in the snow that day also so I added their pictures to the hat as well. My daughter loved it!

See my granddaughter on the sled in the first picture? I am so pleased with this hat and put it on the top of my Christmas tree each year. When you take pictures, keep track of the hat and gloves the kids wear. This was SO FUN!!!

Here is a yummy snowman cheese ball appetizer. It was met with ohhhhs and ahhhs when I brought this to a party.

Best Christmas Season to all....
