Beautiful Advent Calendar Made With Paint Chips

Using paint chips to make an Advent calendar? Very cool, and inexpensive, paint chips!! I only needed 7 large paint chips in black. I found mine at Home Depot. There are lots of black colors to choose from, believe it or not. Once you rub a little chalk on them, they look like a mini blackboard. I had the frame which I painted white and I also had the artist canvas which I covered with burlap fabric. I also used some scrapbook paper of which I have a considerable stash. (I love paper).

First I made the "tags" with black paint chips.

I cut 3 tags out of every paint chip and only used 8 paint chips altogether.

I rubbed chalk all over the paint chip tags and then rubbed them off with a paper towel. I wrote numbers in chalk on them. Then I cut out some pretty scrapbook paper for the back of each tag. I printed out some Advent inspiration from Simply Kierste, cut them out and taped them onto the backs of the tags on top of the scrapbook paper, as shown.

Cotton strings were tied to each tag and then little clothespins secured the tags to the wire.

I covered an artist's canvas with burlap stapling it with an ordinary desk stapler. Easy.

I used florist wire strung across the canvas to hold the little number tags.

I think the tags look pretty from the other side also.

I can hardly wait for December 1st so we can start with the Advent activities! Best wishes for a wonderful, magical Christmas!!

Check out this cute snowman cheese ball also.
