Paper Bird Ornaments

Paper Bird Ornaments

Every Christmas Season I like to make some new paper ornaments. One year I made pinwheels and folded paper Christmas trees. I'm fascinated with paper. I love working with paper and also SEWING onto paper.

The best thing about these bird ornaments is that they are the easiest to make. You know those bird calendars that are everywhere? Well, I had an old calendar with some pictures of birds and there was an awesome picture of a red cardinal. I cut it out and, since it was too large, I had to shrink it down a little with the scanner/printer we have.

Here is the picture of the calendar bird. I cut it out and put it on the scanner, shrunk it, printed it out and cut it out. Voila!! Pattern of bird! See that black area around the bird's beak? I cut that out also. That was pattern number 2.

Look at some of the fun paper I bought. The red corrugated cardboard is my favorite.

Here is the little pattern for around the bird's beak.

At an estate sale I bought a bag of old clothespins... that was about 5 years ago and they have been  sitting in my cupboard since then. Well, I finally found a use for them. I thought of dolling them up with some washi tape or paint but decided to keep them plain (it's easier for one thing.. hahhah).

Hope you are inspired to make something this Christmastime.

Best wishes for a wonderful Christmas season, also,
