WINTER WHITE PAPER FEATHERS
I’ve made paper feathers before – its seems like I make them every year in the winter. They are so much fun! Here is what I did last year with the paper feathers – a blog post called Feather Fun.

So this year I wanted to do white paper feathers and see how much fun that would be.
First you take your pretty papers. I had some lightish looking papers – they weren’t pure white – but I knew I’d be giving them a spritz of white paint anyway so they needn’t be pure white.
Feather paper
Cut out some feather shapes, two at a time. Put glue (my favorite is Fabri Tac)on all over one side of the paper.
Fabri tac glue
and put the chenille stem (pipe cleaner) down the middle of the paper and it will be hanging out the end which is fine because I use that like a stem to put the “feathers” in a vase.

Put the matching paper on top of everything and press down firmly all around the feather shape.
glue
Make little slanted slits on one side of the “feather”.
cut strips
Then cut the other side, too.

Now it’s beginning to look a little more like a feather, isn’t it?
I then “feather” the paper feathers and try to pull out the sliced paper a little so it looks a bit more natural.
I then sprayed them a little bit with white spray paint and sprinkled them with glitter. So there is the winter white faux feather!

Then I had to do something with them so I found this really pretty pink glass canning jar and filled it with some floral vase filler (little plastic beads).
I had the dried hydrangeas on my Christmas tree and thought I could do something with them so I sprayed some white and sprinkled them with glitter, too.

I didn’t spray them solid white. I sort of dusted them with spray paint.

Hope you all enjoyed this post about paper feathers. They are great fun to make and would make a great kid’s craft, too.
If you like these fun feathers, Pin them. Thanks.
Best wishes,

    1. all you need is some paper - any color, shape, etc and then when you cut it into a feather shape and make the slices it turns into a feather. The person's brain looking at it sees "feather". That's what art is all about. Thanks for commenting, Gloria.
