Creative Fun at my Sister’s House

I spent the weekend at my sister’s in Pennsylvania. We DOVE right into crafts and we knew what we wanted to do. We wanted to do the project that Megan at The Brassy Apple did. She transferred birds and butterflies onto artist canvas and then drew words right on the canvas also.
Hey, my sister and I thought, ‘We can do that.’ So Carol drew this tree on a canvas and then we ironed on the birds that we printed out on the special Transfer Artist Paper that was recommended.

We followed directions on the transfer paper and ironed the birds onto the canvas and, as you can see, the results were less than stellar. The lines from the tree come through the bird pictures. Another problem? Not all the transfer material came off which means there was big gaps in some of the birds. My sister painted over her birds with water color. Mine weren’t quite as bad so I left them pretty much alone, but you can still see where the transfer paper gapped.

This is mine:
I know it needs something but what? Any ideas how I could improve this?

We put in some quotes from the Bible about birds. The one that goes around the edge of the canvas “Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns (have big bank accounts) yet their Heavenly Father feeds them”. Then the other quote is from Psalm 91 “He will cover you with His feathers, you will take refuge under His wings.” I like that Psalm 91. At one time I memorized it. I know snippets of it still.

Rooted in Christ
Well, we had an idea and we went with it. It didn’t work out as we planned but my art teacher, Hank, used to say, “Every time you throw a hook in the water, you don’t catch a fish, right?”. So there you go...
This is Carol’s.

    1. Really? Isn't it fun? The worst part is the preparations and gathering of materials. It's twice as much fun with someone else. Fortunately all my family is crafty and likes to make things. :) Linda

  6. Linda, I love this!!! It is amazing, and Psalm 91 is my absolute favorite Scripture that I pray over my family! Thank you so much for sharing at A Bouquet of Talent. I am featuring this awesome project tonight.

  7. You two gals might not have felt your art was "perfect" but you both learned something that will help you next time you attempt this type of project. Who says art has to be perfect to everybody's eyes? Looks pretty good to me and others as I read the comments. I'm very hard on myself about what I make.
Great job for you both. Happy Weekend.
