Topiary painting in Dining Room was a snap!

This is a topiary painting I did when we painted the dining room. It is on a skinny wall in the dining room. I started by painting a brown stem and then did 3 circles by sponge painting with 2 different greens - using the little acrylic paints. At the end when I had the 3 cirlces of various greens, I cut a leaf shape out of the sponge and put in a few leaf shapes - the illusion is that it is all leaf shapes, but it's not. It's just sponge painted. Easy enough for anyone. The pot is nothing to brag about but altogether it's nice. My painting teacher, Hank, told us to look at the whole painting and not to focus on any one part. If the whole is attractive and you've gotten your point across, then it's good. I like most of the stuff I paint. Hank says, " You don't catch a fish every time you throw a hook in the water, do you?" In other words, not every painting is good but that's okay, keep going.
